In 2012 I interviewed John Barnard Jenkins. He isn’t a household name but in the 1960s he was one of the most effective home grown terrorists Britain has ever produced. He set up a complex and highly effective cell system as the leader of MAC, a group that wanted Welsh independence. Remarkably Jenkins was at the same time a Non Commissioned Officer in the British Army.

MAC bombed the interests of the British state; tax offices, water pipelines and infrastructure projects. In 1969 they attempted their biggest target: bomb Prince Charles’ investiture.
